SDG 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Understand SDG 9

  • SDG 9 is to develop infrastructures and upgrade industries towards sustainability and resiliency; increase access to financial services for small-scale industries; and enhance scientific research for innovation and sustainability.

  • Many developing countries still lack infrastructure, such as roads, information and communication technology, health facilities and hydropower.
  • Worldwide, 16% of the population has no access to mobile networks.
  • In many African countries, especially low-income ones, inadequate infrastructure reduces corporate productivity by around 40%.
