Youth For SDGs

About

Youth for SDGs is a platform for global young scholars to learn about SDGs and share their thoughts on sustainable development. We hope to educate, engage, and inspire more teenagers around the world to the global conversations of sustainable development.

Mission

Integrate and strengthen the power of youth in SDGs.

Goal

Make the voice of youth be heard and the actions of youth be seen.

What is SDG?

On September 25, 2015, at the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly, representatives from countries all around the world jointly put forward 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets, which draw a blueprint for global sustainable development in the next 15 years, by 2030.

Jeffrey Sachs is the Director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and a commissioner of the UN Broadband Commission for Development.

The Power of Youth

“The future of humanity and of our planet lies in our hands. It lies also in the hands of today’s younger generation who will pass the torch to future generations.”

2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, paragraph 53

“I believe in the power of young people. Peace, economic dynamism, social justice, tolerance—all these and more, depends on tapping into the potential of youth, not in some distant future, but today.”

António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations

“If we are to achieve the 2030 Agenda, young people must be given platforms through which they can take action for the Sustainable Development Goals.”

— John Thwaites, Chair of the Monash Sustainable Development Institute
